IPIM and Industrial Association of Macau Jointly Organised 12 Macao Companies to Participate in the HKTDC Food Expo, Facilitating Over 180 Business Matching Sessions and Unveiling Exceptional Opportunities

MACAU, August 19 - To aid Macao SMEs in “going global,” and tapping into diverse business opportunities, Macao SAR Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (“IPIM”) and the Industrial Association of Macau jointly organised 12 companies to participate in the “36th HKTDC Food Expo” held in Hong Kong from 13 to 17 August. A dedicated Macao Pavilion was established for this event. Notably, nearly 70% of the participating companies were debut exhibitors. The Macao companies engaged in over 180 business matching sessions, with several newly-joined companies reaching procurement partnerships with Hong Kong companies, involving the expansion of online and offline retail channels. The Macao Pavilion was very popular and the onsite sales were exceptional, with all participating companies making successful sales at the event.

Both Macao Premium Goods and Experiential Activities Were Highly Popular

At the Macao Pavilion, 144 “Made in Macao” and “Macao Brand” products were exhibited to buyers and visitors from across the globe, featuring signature products like health products, health foods, souvenir pastries, wines, coffee, and tea drinks. All of these products were distinguished by the “M-Mark” certification, with over a half boasting Halal certification. Among them, the health products gained favour from many customers. In addition, IPIM also took the opportunity to promote the opportunities of the four major industries in Macao, the Macao-Hengqin investment environment and MICE strengths, the role of the China-PSC platform, the Programme for Supporting the Development of Macao First Store Economy, and IPIM’s specialised services.

Moreover, the event featured various supporting activities, including on-site sampling, as well as the live stream broadcasting by KOLs to provide firsthand experiences on the quality of Macao products.

Deepening Exchanges and Co-operation, Exploring Diversified Business Opportunities

During the event, Macao exhibitors actively engaged with professional buyers from ASEAN, Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland to explore potential partnerships in areas such as big health and food distribution, supply chain and retail channel expansion, new product development, food brand innovation and coffee and tea trade. Some food manufacturers exhibiting for the first time reported excellent sales, noting the Expo provided ample opportunities for networking, particularly in the business matching sessions where they could further explore collaboration opportunities with Hong Kong companies and expand into the local market. A long-established Macao brand exhibiting for the first time, possessing halal certification, stated that it had reached preliminary co-operation agreements with major Hong Kong retail chains and e-commerce platforms, successfully increasing brand awareness in the local market and facilitating the relevant negotiations. A manufacturer of big health products reported impressive sales figures, successful partnership with local businesses and onsite exchanges with clients on product usage scenarios, which provided them with innovative insights and inspiration.

The 36th HKTDC Food Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, attracted over 1,850 exhibitors from Chinese Mainland, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and other countries and regions, showcasing diversified delicacies and related products. It is one of the most popular trade fairs in Hong Kong and marks the second consecutive year that IPIM has co-ordinated the participation of Macao companies. Through in-depth exchanges, precise and efficient transactions and partnership were achieved, demonstrating the effectiveness of “attracting investments through exhibitions, attracting investment through co-operation and empowering industries through exhibitions”, and further advancing the diversified development of Macao industries.
